Since Brexit I've been suffering with a certain kind of eternal European pain mysel
Mario Kart: Double Dash contains a bizarre "eternal European pain" glitch whereby being burned when entering a pipe will cause the character to remain in pain indefinitely, but only in the European version.

I Finished A Video Game video on bad games: "There always seems to be someone willing to choose bad art over no art."

Lmao, forget that, there are plenty of people willing to choose bad art over *great* art.

Not me, though. Never me.

In the early 2000s I would periodically make a pilgrimage to the cheap computer parts shop more than an hour's walk from my house and fill my bag with blank CDs that could be used to summon strange, exciting new sights and sounds out of my PS1 and Dreamcast. Sounds plenty like a ritual to me.
My favorite piece of content today.

The SEGA Saturn will have very cool RPGs and Shmups with names like "Malfeasance Veiler" or "Lunar Stockholm" on one end and very middling platformers like "Slungo's Boyle", a 3D slog people swear by only because they remember renting it as a child multiple times to beat it

Been waiting weeks for this.

PSOne fully operational

This is my twin 2nd JVC CRT.

Model no. TM-A101G, same as the other one.

This will be my dedicated PS1 CRT.

I really enjoyed Slungo's Boyle on default settings, but the many frame perfect slunches required for later stages on the ultra difficult Boyling Point difficulty made the game frustrating more than fun imo.
whoa there buddy. you forgot to read the tutorial.

*places you back after you skipped it*

here. let's explain the mechanics again. you ready?

Panzer Dragoon Saga still insisting that I remove my Action Replay every time I start it up unless I enter a cheat code is very endearing. My friend, the year is 2025. The Saturn is discontinued. The second console war ended decades ago. I even own a copy of the game! You can stop fighting now.

Loaded up an old save midway through Shining Force 3 Scenario 1 to have a wee poke around, and thinking about this again. Still an outrageous achievement honestly.
Finishing Terra Phantastica with its slow startup sequence every time you engage an enemy made me think back to Camelot's absolutely wild wizardry on Shining Force 3. Bonkers that in an era of long loading screens, the 3-D attack sequences load in and out as seamlessly as SF1's did on cartridge.

I'm terrified that one day my consciousness will be revived and held in eternal torment as punishment for my failure to dedicate my life to campaigning for a modern revival of a certain beloved PSP franchise. I am facing down the horror of LocoRoco's Basilisk.
