It's also strange the only the Genesis ever gets subjected to this weird technical criticism. Nobody ever talks about all the SNES games that used the stock N-SPC driver and patch set and sound lazy and bad for the same reasons many GEMS games do.
I'm invoking what little clout I have as a prominent uploader and fan of Sega Genesis/Mega Drive music to call upon the community to stop this already. This technically naive bit of misinformation has been bouncing around for decades at this point. (see alt text)
