Seems like a better timeline, though tbf the entertainment world is different by now due to the chain of events connecting 9/11 to the end of the Ellen Degeneres Show.

I mean, I don’t want to knock it too much. It’s basically a film with a pure heart. It’s certainly brought a tear to my eye and that of people I care about as well. And the performances are very good. Just noting what aspects of their actual economic reality are treated as invisible…

It’s also worth noting that the film only became really popular when it entered public domain in the 70s and people began to look back to that era with more nostalgia as it was shown on TV repeatedly.
That said, it’s definitely still a film with a huge heart and a lot of wit. A classic.

The fact that the film, characters, and a lot of the audience, seem to take it as a given that they have to have a domestic servant (even though they don’t have small kids in the house) says something about society…

Agree totally on physical media. But I definitely recommend 4K UHD upgrades! So much more detail in great films! Plus, most streaming services only stream in regular HD, so getting the 4K means you’re actually seeing the film in a better condition than most streaming services.
