Obsessive writer, "Mimi" of seven, and darned good whole-foods cook. I enjoy coupling my interest in child-nurturing and mental health with politics. In a former life, I was a newspaper journalist and remedial reading teacher.
Getting out in front of anything requires preparation, whether it's a math test, having a baby, or an election. It takes a willingness to swap complacency for focus, and letting in that crack of light.

"Be ready when opportunity comes...Luck is the time when preparation and opportunity meet."

In Colorado, Grand Junction HS athletes "across multiple sports" were not allowed to compete on Saturday because they participated in Friday's walkout, which was part of the nation-wide walkout protesting ICE violence against immigrants and citizens alike. Why don't we just stop teaching US history?

A friend asked me why I would no longer meet with her. Truth is, she was self-absorbed and our meetings were becoming too painful to bear. Such people don't care about wasting your time. They lack the ability to self-reflect and are terrible listeners. Such is the futility of arguing with MAGAs.

Why is it important to read the work of the late psychologist Alice Miller? Because she can help us understand how causing trauma to children perpetuates the psychological groundwork for violence, authoritarianism, war, mental illness, and systemic cruelty. famouspsychologists.net/alice-miller...

My grandfather was an illegal alien for 14 years: 1926-1940. Not once did an INS agent push him to the ground. Not once did they beat and handcuff him, or pack him off to detention. Not once was he deported. He had due process. And when his reprieves ran out, he wrote a letter to FDR. And here I am.

According to a 1-30-26 report on MeidasTouch Network, ICE threw an elderly Durango, CO, woman to the ground for filming their activity, then pushed her down a hill. My God. They have no conscience. youtu.be/Pn6a02nyVgQ

In her book, Caste, The Origin of Our Discontents, author Isabel Wilkerson aptly compares the unleashing of hatred in America during Trump's 2016 campaign to the release of Anthrax in the Siberian tundra caused by a long buried, infected reindeer rising to the surface during an unprecedented thaw.

Open letter to our Senators:

Gentlemen, Ladies, we don't really care about ICE not getting even more funding. We don't care about more "training" and more rules they won't follow.

We want ICE de-funded. Dismantled. Gone. Driven out of our cities.

Hey all. I'm trying to wrap it up on Facebook, but have been suspended. (Horrors!) They say I violated community standards, but can appeal. I would appreciate any advice that doesn't require that I share my driver's license with Meta. Thanks!
