Jin Kazama, Liu Kang, and Terry Bogard running away from a giant trash fire, or Ryu giving a T2-style thumbs up from the giant pile of avatar costumes that he has been buried under.

But as you can see from the various typos and rambling, I'm getting myself a little too existential over a cartoon movie about a children's card game right now, so thanks to whoever took the time to look over these little mini threads for this short journey through the movies of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

So the last, wordless return of Atem at the climax, and the final montage of all the characters moving on with their lives (or going to Card Game Valhalla to fight their rival forever and ever) has a stronger emotional punch than it thanks the the tragic, real life context surrounding the work.

And that feeling extends to Darkside of Dimensions as well. Despite it not being his intention when he wrote it, this is the very last Yu-Gi-Oh story Kazuki Takahashi will ever tell.

And it's a story that is ultimately, ironically, about learning how to say goodbye.

It's when you realize the comic's very existence a man living out a fantasy he thought he'd never get to do, especially right before what happened not too soon after its creation, that gives it a bit more emotional weight than it would have had otherwise.

Secret Reverse is nothing special on its own, though it is amusing as the plot is basically Iron Man and Spider-Man taking a trip to Japan to fight a Not-Seto-Kaiba who is also a dad.

Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra for last season, and A Wild Last Boss Appeared! for this season.

They're not like, the most original works in the Isekai genre but they have a nice touch or two I really like.

Also explains that extra bit of disgust Bayne showed afterward that was a little more aggressive than she normally displays.

They're lucky she didn't drop the both of them on their fool necks ala "Bob Holly thought it was a good idea to sandbag Brock Lesner."

Both Pac and Claudio having a Meaningful Stare at Fletcher.

I kind of like the "heavier shadows/rounder character designs" look this has, for all that it's clearly way cheaper than the anime that actually got popular.

It's a look that would actually kind of work for an actual, unsettling horror story... which YGO was originally intended to be, really.

This is just a weak retelling of the ending of the Death T Arc (AKA what became the first episode of Duel Monsters).

Except they swapped out Exodia for Red Eyes Black Dragon and instead of being a duel for their lives, it's so an Original Character can have the confidence to play the game at all.

So apparently this whole "tournament" is "Everyone fights Kaiba one at a time".
November 9, 2025 at 12:14 AM
"Didn't you read the rules? Kaiba Corp reserves the right to force invitees to participate if they decline."

... I am... 85% sure that is not legally enforceable.

Since it's a fan dub, I will cut it a little slack as far as the performances and sound quality go since, y'know, fan dub.
