I needed this. I've been feeling very stagnated and borderline depressed about mushing but this weekend helped me remember all the fun and totally has me all jazzed for training and racing this year. And I think the dogs are reinvigorated too!!

Cheesecake tagged along and was the star of the show. She got showered in pets from the college students from Mushing Club @ Michigan Tech and had a huge adventure chasing sticks and leaves.

This past weekend we went to Shaw's Rig Session hosted by the Magnussons. Its basically a giant party of a training weekend where tons of mushers get together and train on the same trails to practice passing and dog manners. Passing makes my dogs SO excited so they had the MOST fun.

We've been rotating leaders, old and new, next to Legend aka best girl. Today it was Kestrel. Last season he lost a lot of trust with me...on runs over 20-25 miles, he would start trying to poop every mile. Kestrel unfortunately hasn't figured out how to poop on the fly.

Zirkle led today, he and Foucher showed a ton of promise up front last spring so I want to focus on leader foundation on those two during their second season.

Finally out again! Its been a very slow start to the season, battling the 50+ degree lows and thinking about Compass, my most heat sensitive dog, and his safety. Nice and cool this morning though and looks like we should have at least a week of good temps, if not waving goodbye to summer entirely!

Honestly this box mix is super easy to make and they are REALLY good, better than the bakery ones I find at the grocery store 🤣 I feel like every grocery carries these in the bakery aisle
