90% of the lads at my school were no longer virgins and 80% of those had lost it to a "babysitter". Apart from the lad whose dad was a milkman who claimed to be living in a 70s sex farce of bored housewives and climbing out of windows. It's almost as if teenagers are an unreliable witness.

Christ it gets worse, I've just checked the data and they haven't separated out direct from second hand reporting of this *at all*. Awful methodology You can't effectively critique the use of AI in schools with this sensationalist bullshit. Teenagers aren't dumb and they'll spot what you're up to.

I can only assume that anyone who thinks "knows someone who has" has never been a teenager. I remember that we'd had a massive fight with a nearby school that had always happened "two years ago" from when you were a first year.

A national survey of students, teachers and parents shines a light on how the AI revolution is playing out in schools – including when it comes to bullying and a community's trust in schools. n.pr/46OAc16

Strange how PPE never gets mentioned by politicians attacking "rip-off" degrees. (I'm obviously not saying it is a bad degree, merely that its content is something they'd be attacking in any other context).

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
flintlock.bsky.social
I'm pretty sure yes (in terms of sitting round playing it). What I'm less convinced on is that much blind playtesting took place.

And only some of the British populace. They're certainly not going to be stopping the children of the rich reading sociology or anthropology at Oxford, let alone making them do a vocational subject instead of philosophy or classics.

I enjoyed it but I think that was mostly because of the kids I was playing with. It's 2e where it started to feel less rough round the edges. (Same with Blood Bowl now I think about it).

Yeah, I remember after apartheid fell having to constantly remind myself that I wasn't boycotting SA oranges any more.
flintlock.bsky.social
I was 16 when apartheid fell. One of my earliest political memories is checking the produce in the supermarket for my mum. It's very much a foundational issue for my generation, not something purely historical.
flintlock.bsky.social
It is notable that the Tories are now confident that the campaign against apartheid has now faded enough from public consciousness that they aren't worried about people remembering their record during the time if they bring it up.

"Andrew Mitchell said that those who fought against Nazi Germany and South African apartheid would “turn in their graves” at the words “genocide” and “apartheid” being applied to the situation in the Middle East."

Apartheid ended 35 years ago Andrew. Most campaigners are still alive.

We talk about dads and their favourite wars, but you can tell us much about someone's personality and ideological worldview from "favourite version of Robin Hood".

We're going to get people complaining that The Cranberries "Zombie" is not a Halloween song, but it's no worse at that than it is at being an intelligent commentary on the troubles.

All I'm saying is that if Phileas Fogg had just hidden in his house for 80s days and then turned up at the Reform Club pretending he'd just circumvented the world, the ending of the book would have been exactly the same.

I mostly like it because it puts polisimmers way higher than we deserve.

But they live underwater.

Christ, Busted, blase is one thing but exactly what would be needed for you to see it as a major change?

When it gets into narrative structure (the everybody dies parts of the Great Pendragon campaign) is where I think it's not completely awful, but more of a mixed blessing.

In particular, the trains never require you to make narrative choices outside of your character.
flintlock.bsky.social
Why I give it a pass compared to many games I dislike, is because the BRP underpinnings aren't just flavour. It's genre emulation and the personality mechanics are focused on who your character is rather than narrative structure.
