This week marks one year since Pick Your Potion was released. In that time it’s been an Aurealis Awards finalist, longlisted for the British Science Fiction Association Awards, and on the Locus Recommended Reading List. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported it. That means so much to me. 💖

Bloody hell Rod, don’t 😂

People like to see the human as well as the book, you don’t need to flood your account with constant promos. It works better when we see the everyday and your humour. On here at least, just keep being you and let folks know that you also write!

It gets easier, just get enthusiastic. Engage with other writers when they post about showing books. Like their posts and they’ll like yours. Don’t even stick to your own genre, many writers and reviewers boost all types!

Fancy a nostalgic trip to your youth, like a sprinkling of spicy romance? Check out this book by author Daisy Burton. Great reviews and something to warm your pumpkins this autumn. You won’t regret it, what are you waiting for?

Do you remember the ‘90s fondly?
My first novel, Sensible, is set then, when the internet was young. It’s a story of a woman separating from her husband and finding out what life’s like as a free agent with online access!

You don’t need to do mad, slick marketing, folks are bored with that shit. Keep it personal, just post the book and the link. Let folks have a look. If you get a good review show it! Tell folks about your work, let us do the reposting and the boosting.

Get your books out for the lads 😂
Seriously though you’ve got great reviews, post about them!

Missus, posting and spamming are two different things. So long as you mix up the content with your usual posts and loveliness it never gets boring. Let’s see your books, shake your money maker (not literally). Don’t hide your light under a bushel ❤️

I see people asking if social media sells books. Can’t speak for everyone but ALL my purchases this year have been from posts on here, and that’s been a lot.
This morning I bought a book after someone posted they didn’t enjoy it much, BUT it sounded right up MY street.
Post them books, doooo it.
Image of a large stack of books with the words, you can’t buy happiness but you can buy books and that’s kind of the same thing.

It's a new week so let's highlight two of my favourite dice trays. Only a tiny bit of the koi fabric left now, so once it's gone, that's it.

The mushrooms are self explanatory. They're just rad!

Both available at www.tabletoptinkering.com

41 years ago today Strawberry Switchblade recorded a Janice Long BBC radio session. Although they'd just completed their album they recorded 3 brand new atmospheric keyboard-based songs & a cover of Jolene. It's a peek into what the 2nd album would have sounded like.
