Throwback to Valentine’s day 2019 when a neighbor sent me this photo of my front porch. Best Valentine ever! But when I say the deer around here are bold, this is why.

Just a reminder to myself that all of this is waiting patiently under the snow in the garden 🌱

As an #embroidery artist I complete 10-12 pieces/yr. After 2 years, I had a bag of short threads and had this idea. It has taken probably 60+ hours but I finished and framed it today. The “threads in the web of life” concept is a core aspect of my beliefs and as a gardener I love how it came out! 🌱

Yesterday, I went out to buy some ice melt and also came home with this Turtle Vine “Pink Panther.” I’m working on a bird cage planting project, and I can’t wait to show you!

Let’s talk winter resilience, gardeners! I’m just so ☀️ powered, I may even be a plant 🌱 I’m working on 2 articles about how I survive the dark: 1, a frigid day spent immersed in what fires up inner sunshine and 2, the process of creating a bird cage planting. Follow me to read both when available!

Just wow. The sun melted some of the snow today, creating these spectacular icicles. I just took photos of the frozen garden with the full moon behind the ice from the second floor.

Here she is. I collaged her on the dragon 😄

I thought you would appreciate this — I’ll share the original too

Picked up a bouquet of fresh flowers as I do every January 29th, to celebrate closing on my first home in 2014. Happy anniversary to my house and forever gardens 💜

Nothing better than having a flower grow indoors when it’s -9° outdoors.

Well, this is exciting! I planted some ranunculus corms in a raised bed under lights in my basement and I have buds!!!

Snowing like crazy here and we are forecasted from 1-2 feet while it’s 5 degrees outside. Scrolling through flowers helps!

Finished my lavender on felt mandala hand embroidery with a hand painted frame yesterday. 💜 It was going in my store but I painted it with leftover trim paint from my bedroom and now it looks so good in there I’m keeping it. Where there’s a wall, there’s a way! 😆 #embroidery #fiberarts

This IS how you germinate seeds, right? 😊 I just went through all the packets of vegetable, herb and flower seeds and started plotting my approach. I think I will start seeds that can be started inside earlier this year.

Memories of warmer days. Baptisia is short lived but the foliage is cool and makes a nice shrub the rest of the year if supported and pruned.

I finished this 12x12 lavender mandala last week. It’s on felt and has a 3D effect with raised blossoms. I love it but can’t decide whether to offer it as wall decor or a decorative pillow! Maybe add dried lavender to the stuffing?

From here in the frozen tundra of NY, my gift is this memory of warmer days, a garden in full bloom. Just pretend the liatris and daisies are fireworks on the longest day of the year, and we are half way to spring ☺️ Wishing you a happy, healthy, safe, bountiful and peaceful year ahead. #gardening

At one point there were three woodpeckers on this wreath. I bundled up, went outside with the camera and waited and they never returned but the chickadees, carolina wrens and tufted titmouse came right back ☺️ Love my garden birds and was happy they fueled up before tonight’s big snow.

We only decorate with fake poinsettias and there is no tree because someone will topple it, but Merry Christmas from me and the cats!

Wishing everyone a blessed Solstice and peaceful holiday week as the wheel turns back towards the light. 💜 Cats love nothing more than warm cozy time with me, and as an artist and gardener, I find myself more welcoming of the dark season of rest, reset and rejuvenation as I grow each year wiser.

Just me in my ultra cozy Winnie the Pooh fleece under an electric blanket and a cat, embroidering a flower crown on a smiling cat for the store. My strategy as a gardener with S.A.D. was to find a joyful hobby creating flowers in the dead of winter. It works.

When I can’t garden, I hibernate, embroider flowers and snuggle cats. The inevitable result is hand-embroidered flower and cat art for the shop ☺️The next one will be a calico!

I love Bluesky. I would like to stay focused and put my energy here. But as a small business owner, engagement is quiet and slow so I’m starting to think it’s just not working for me. I am debating whether to suck it up and move to Threads, and it makes me sad. Sigh. Anyone else feel this way?

I am as much cat lover as I am flower lover. And I’m obsessed with color. So this is what happens! I’ve now finished this hand embroidery art and added it to the Flowerwise store. I’m hoping it finds its home with another feline and garden loving person ☺️ 🐾
