Some people think I'm too hard on movies and TV. I'm not. I ask for 2 things. (I've said it so many times, a beloved writer hero of mine, @annelamott.bsky.social, has even quoted me!) But I think they are good rules, and so often both aren't met. They are:

1. Tell me a STORY
2. Make me CARE

All weather forecasts depend on the same ingredients. You know what happens if you leave a key ingredient out of a batch of cookies, right? If any are missing (unavailable, disrupted) or poor quality (degraded, hindered), the cookie is at best questionable and often outright ruined.
