Twice emotional stability
Of sound body and tranquility, I deserve it all
Like minds and less enemies
Stock investments, more entities, I deserve it all
More money, more power, more freedom
Everything Heaven allows me, I deserve it all
A close relationship with God, I deserve it all
So far my sourdough attempts have been a failure. I am close to giving up. Today is my final attempt to figure out my starter and if it doesn't work, I am bidding my sourdough dreams goodbye.
My first sourdough attempt—dinner rolls—failed. They were flat and didn’t rise, likely because my starter wasn’t strong enough. Anyway, my kitchen smells amazing, and the flat rolls tasted great. Hopefully, I’ll master sourdough science soon.
Finally found a sourdough recipe that doesn’t require discard! 💃The concept of discard has always felt wasteful & never made sense to me. I want bread—not a bunch of unnecessary pastries made just to avoid waste. There’s no way ancient women were discarding so much flour in the name of bread-making.

I don’t want to feel shitty on this day in 2026. Amen.

I considered changing my chopping board to teak wood. I didn’t because I already lift at the gym, I am not returning home to continue lifting just because I want to eat.

After listening to Paul Brunson’s podcast episode with Dr. Judith Joseph, I started making an effort to acknowledge the different moments of joy in my day. This year, I’ve decided to document them so I can revisit those moments and relive the happiness they brought.
Today, I wrote down nine things I loved about my day, including the most mundane stuff. I’m not sure if it was just a really good day or if it’s because it’s the weekend, but I’m happy to have had little sparks of joy here and there to brighten my day ☺️

I take back some of the things I said about the KitchenAid mixer. It’s incredibly versatile. I just brought mine out and noticed the attachment lever again. I’ve decided to get a dedicated mixer strictly for dough recipes and use my KA for its attachments and cake batters.
There’s someone called MrMixer whose business is fixing KA mixers, including brand-new ones. I had to order an everdime to fix the shaky tilt head of my mixer, which I’ve only used twice. While KA tilt-head mixers are aesthetically pleasing in the kitchen, their functionality & durability are poor.

I hardly eat red meat and dislike pork for personal reasons, but I’m eating this lasagna anyway. I assumed the Italian sausage was made from beef, and I hope I like it enough not to regret being a dummy 😭
I’ve never tried lasagna, mostly because I don’t like pasta (except spaghetti). I considered making it today but feared it’d be a waste if I didn’t like it, so I got Costco’s Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef. Come to find out, Italian sausage is pork 😭 Maybe I’m a dummy 😭

Another thing I hate doing is kneading any type of dough with my hands. Baking is already manual labour and kneading the dough is a lot so I just CAN NOT. My KA mixer is going to have to do the job somehow.

I just ordered a pack of juice. I’m not going to be flavoring my kombucha with fruits for a while. I’ll also stick to hibiscus tea and pineapple or citrus as the base for my ginger bug soda, though, since it requires more juice than ginger bug starter, but I’m done flavoring kombucha.
I am still trying to hack fruit flavored kombucha. I usually juice my fruits and use it as the base but I don’t like how my recent brew turned out. I am considering switching back to flavoring with store-bought juice. Not sure if it’s a healthy choice though.

Ninja creami owners, is it really worth it?

Speaking of sourdough, I have no intention of ever making it the traditional way. The shape of a traditional sourdough loaf feels intimidating to me—like a big, round ball with spikes (I hope that’s not fatphobic). Who even invented scoring loaves, anyway?

Nobody told me how good pickled onions taste! I’ve been eating them every day with every meal for the past two weeks, and they’re amazing. I wish I had been into pickles a month ago when I had a head of purple cabbage and no idea what to do with it. Now I want to pickle everything 😭

My recent F2 brew grew its own SCOBY in just two days. I filtered the kombucha before bottling, used beer bottles to limit oxygen, and added a blend of fruits and pomegranate arils, yet somehow, a SCOBY still formed in the bottle. That really pissed me off 😤

Too many sourdough bakers have let their starters become their masters. Not me—I run this kitchen, not the sourdough starter! There’s no way I’d feed a starter daily, treat it like a demigod, and then throw away 3/4 of it. Not in my kitchen!

If you had told me six months ago that the fermentation process of different foods would bring me joy, I wouldn’t have believed you. While baking and cooking have always brought me comfort, fermentation has taught me patience, trust in the process, and the value of starting over.

Except traveling 70 states.
Someone said it’s been a ‘Cranes in the Sky’ kind of year, and I’ve never related more to a tweet describing how 2024 has been.

The funny thing is black Americans are still Americans, they aren’t going anywhere. It’s the so-called intelligent immigrants who believe they are better than black Americans that have to leave America when push comes to shove.
