Anyway 2025 is about to end so my fav thing to come out this year was Absolute Martian Manhunter. Camp and Rodríguez are generational talents who every issue are doing stuff I didn't think was possible in comics. So good it has me buying a monthly physical comic again!

In the 70s the material conditions existed for a truck driver to convince a bunch of Canadian dentists to fund his short film as a tax write-off and become the biggest filmmaker in the world. Must have been nice!!!

Having seen Muppet Christmas Carol more than any other movie, the most pivotal piece of why it works is the massive tonal shift during the Ghost of Christmas Future sequence, where there's no jokes (or Gonzo!) and it's taken dead seriously. You wouldn't get that with any kids film today!
I do think the key for things like Home Alone, Muppet Christmas Carol, etc. is that the actors fully commit to the bit

There's a shot towards the end of Wake Up Dead Man involving Andrew Scott's Orson Scott Card-ripoff that's one of the funniest and most mean-spirited things in a movie this year. Terrific picture.

It's a real tragedy that the only Muppets content we get now is their random cameos at The Game Awards but it is the one thing that kinda endears me to Geoff Keighley
