Why do so many people think centralisation of local government in the name of efficiency is a good idea?

The clue is in the name. It's meant to enable local decision making.

The UK is already an outlier in Europe for how few local authorities we have relative to population.

Don't make it worse.

It's crazy to me how many people don't connect the dots between unreliable buses and traffic congestion.

Believe it or not, the bus company actually does want to run a good service!
