And during that time, I get exercise and the ability to check my phone or zone out completely safely! If I'm tired after work, I can just rest and not worry about navigating or endangering others in any way. I know not everyone has the option to make the switch but I'm so grateful to have a choice

I think if I drove to my current workplace, it would be similar now. Walk+bus takes longer on paper- about 65-75 min. But I've never had more than a 20 minute delay, thanks to skilled professional drivers, frequent buses, and dedicated bus lanes in strategic places.

It's also been much more reliable than I anticipated which is great! 2 years ago my highway -based commute home varied between 23 minutes and 2.5 hours pretty regularly (😭).

One of the biggest improvements has been that I am less frequently frustrated with other people. When driving myself, I was frustrated during every commute, and would arrive at work and at home very stressed. It felt awful and unsustainable - but it was the default.

And it feels great! I'm getting more movement and fresh air. I birdwatch on my commute. I stop and smell the roses when they bloom. I can dilly-dally and take a bunch of photos of a sunrise, miss my bus, and be on the next one with no stress.
