Free biomass: Some people rake all their dead leaves every Fall and put them in garbage bags out front of their house. Knock on their door and ask if you can take them!!
December 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
Ask bath & body employees to text you (or check dumpster?) if they're throwing away the cardboard packaging from glass candle jars, they stack up perfect, blocks grass roots, holds in nutrients, good for transporting babies. There are a lot of other products that are shipped that way.
December 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
visit www.greener.land for advice, shape the land (the bigger scale, the better), arrange for "open air root" deliveries to arrive, spread the word about you, there are probably more.

Ask produce section employees to text you if they're throwing away edible perennial seeds, (or check dumpster?).

Tell your friends! We sell frankentrees!

Every commumity garden and green org. should have seed boxes/food forest boxes for donating!!!

Customers can prepare for your arrival in lots of ways: starting perennials, composting, collecting biomass, laying cardboard over invasive grasses/weeds,

so that the entire community can donate edible perennial seeds and mushroom spores. The box can be for seeds from store bought produce, but it's especially for seeds left from processing big batches of local native edibles!! Send them a .pdf to tape to the box that has your contact info and

Join, or just contact "community gardens" along your route. The best thing about com gardens is that they make sure that the all-important watering gets done.

To get seeds for free, contact community gardens over the internet along your route and ask them to keep a "food forest box" somewhere

Even a single person could be a nomadic food forest and seaweed farm specialist, and teach the locals everything, and/or help them get established, and offer future advice and services. Offer education of everything you've learned. Offer presentations.

topographic lines, you can still shape the land later on.
Use the website greener.land for guidance, use it in conversations and at meetings to make you look smart.

Let strangers help you plant as an activity or vacation activity or education for them. Eager people working for free? Sounds good!!!

make frankentrees, etc. Non-edible branches are still useful free biomass.

Offer land shaping. If the land is too huge & you have to use big gas powered vehicles, it's worth it. Maybe a customer has one you could borrow & use around the area. If you plant your perennials generally along horizontal

Offer land cardboard covering.  This could be for you to return later, or just for the owner's future plans.

Offer "memorial groves" for deceased people. Communicate with funeral arrangers?

Offer edible perennial branch trimming (for optimum production) to property owners, "root" the cuttings,

Grafting success goes way up if the air around the whole thing stays humid, consider keeping the whole thing (carefully) covered with a plastic bag.

Offer grafting onto owners' existing trees. Our favorite method is to use a drill. Focus on aligning the cambium (nutrient transporting) layer.

To make frankentrees (in a small space): find square plastic containers 5" x 5" or so, roll some fabric to make 4 baby tree holders that fit into the 5"x5", they can stick out the top. Root some cuttings (or dig up tiny babies?). Graft compatible species onto the tiny trunk.
December 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
large areas of their land already being automatically watered that they would let you use, if necessary your babies can be raised above ground somehow to preserve their precious grass.  (There are a few other ways to clone plants).
December 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
plant soon, if not, use some porous material (100% cotton old clothes?) so that the roots "air prune" themselves, then they grow out in a perfect shape after you plant them. Place a whole bunch of these where you can water them or have a sprinkler set up. Many customers, or friends, probably have

try to graft onto the kind of species whose roots shoot out and sprout into new baby trees.

You could also sell normal baby plants, seeds, mushroom spores.

To clone a plant: make small cutting, dip in aloe, stick it in 1" slice of banana, add dirt, roll it up in cardboard or paper if you can

Sell small "frankentrees"/"fruit salad trees" (or normal baby plants/seeds) anywhere you can, town hall meetings, door to door, events, university housing, parking lots, this will get you attention and contact info from the interested (and maybe a free overnight parking space). When grafting,

Bring a bag of aloe, stick cuttings into aloe. Ask owners if they want trimming done, if you can dig up any babies, if they can save seeds from processing every year, if you can visit their property. Quick question: "How many different edible species do you have?". Make notes on your digital map.
December 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
In a larger co-op, your # of workers determines what jobs you can accept, how big of spaces you can do within time constraints; before any "open air root" babies die, before the planting season runs out, etc.

Spot the edibles: go for nature/neighborhood hikes (or try to spot them from the road).

Pretend like the goal is closed canopy forest on all unused land, then in the future, computers will tell us if any trees/forests need cutting!!

Mushrooms speed up forest growth, research species that cooperate with your species' roots, or transplant mushrooms from thriving specimens.

can contact you with questions/requests that you come back.

Certain species of trees that touch roots (plus mushrooms nearby in most cases) help eachother grow. If you plant close, & have to remove certain individuals later on, that's fine!! Develop a "succession" strategy for all of your species.

A fast way to plant baby trees is with "open air root" babies, they can be started from seed or clones. Here's a record holder!!!

Will the owner begin watering immediately after you plant? They'll want a drink immediately. Good luck figuring that out!!!
