And now for some good news! Of course the idea that people need debt relief to pay their medical bills because they happen to get sick is pretty depressing!

Gotta love LA County public health and Barbara Ferrer (neither of which seem to be on Bluesky) for pushing out this statement quickly!

Looks like @latimes.com is hitting up subscribers to invest in their IPO. Just got 2 emails in the past minute. "We're planning to go public, want in?" Not seeing an S-1 though.🤷‍♀️

Toured @caltech.edu with my son on Friday and was a bit daunted by this greeting.

I keep hearing Trump say that the number of SNAP beneficiaries increased bigly under Biden. So I asked Claude if that was true. Guess what: it’s not.

Thanks. Max was an amazing dog who got me through my mom's long-term illness and her death. He didn't deserve to be Zoetis' science experiment!

Oops...didn't realize the site doesn't open. But if you look at the domain registration, you can see that $ZTS registered the domain name months before it changed its label to warn users.

Congress gets cheap healthcare. Meanwhile, an older married GenX like me with a kid under 19 living where I used to in Florida would have to pay $3600 a month with no dental and a $16,200 family deductible. Used $85k in income which is high for that part of Florida.

Just did same experiment on health plans in Florida for my family of 3 as I did yesterday. This time, they’re showing the pricing with the subsidy, even though none has been approved. Too many people must have freaked out when they saw the non-subsidized total!

Got to see @susanorlean.bsky.social last night at main LA library with @kcrw.com’s Madeleine Brand. Was definitely better than a disappointing Dodgers game!

Was just experimenting on Healthcare.gov. Used my family’s basic details, but changed annual income to $75k and used an old zip code from my Florida days. Total cost was $41k a year. As my son would say: that math ain’t mathing!

Unusual for late October!

Would you take out a loan from this company?
October 24, 2025 at 1:38 AM
Elevance also spent over $880 million buying back its own stock during the quarter. While the numbers vary, the other for-profit healthcare companies in this country are no different. When will Americans wake up to the fact that this doesn't happen in other countries? (2/2)

Just digging into Elevance Health's earnings from yesterday. This is the company formerly known as Anthem Blue Cross. The company reported $50.1 billion in revenue for the quarter, a 12% increase over the same quarter last year. (1/2)

Interesting that @latimes.com is pitching their subscribers to invest!

A friend who went to #nokings rally in Olympia yesterday sent me this sign, which is super creative and funny!

How many other dogs in LA are asking WTF about all this rain?
October 14, 2025 at 6:02 PM
It’s one of those rare days when the markets are open, but SEC is closed. An added bonus? Perfect weather for a hike with my pup!

Grew up in Brooklyn, but haven’t lived in NYC in a long time now. Still, I managed to score as a “Bonafide New Yorker” on @nytimes.com quiz! 🍕🥯

Had read that rates were going up but a 13% increase in electricity rates seems a bit much!

The SEC’s latest message about the shutdown. Still avoiding political finger-pointing unlike other agencies.
October 1, 2025 at 4:52 AM
Other agencies have gone very political with their shutdown messages, but at least so far, the SEC is playing it straight.

Hmm…wonder what odds are at Polymarket that this is a legit text or tied in any way to Goldman Sachs. 🤨
