Quick update on Mitchell. He had his chest tubes removed today and it made a huge difference. His breathing is much easier and his pain has come down a bit. He is still hurting, but the worst pressure has finally eased. Feeling grateful for any step forward. 💙

Mitchell’s surgery is finished and the surgeons said he did great. He needed five bypass grafts. There was a lot of calcium buildup, but they were able to work through everything successfully. Hearing those words felt like a huge wave of relief. ❤️

Hi friends. I’ve been a little quiet because the past few days have turned our world upside down. Mitchell went in for a heart cath on Nov 21 after some concerning stress test results. We thought it would be routine, but what they found was far more serious than anyone expected. 🧵

This morning The Spinners’ ‘I’ll Be Around’ came on shuffle and hit me in the chest. It was one of my dad’s favorites, and his band often played it with him on congas. Fond memories of it blasting while driving in LA with him. I just miss him so much, but I’m glad he’s still ‘around’ in his own way.

This morning The Spinners’ ‘I’ll Be Around’ came on shuffle and hit me in the chest. It was one of my dad’s favorites, and his band often played it with him on congas. Fond memories of it blasting while driving in LA with him. I just miss him so much, but I’m glad he’s still ‘around’ in his own way.
Like clockwork, we both have our post-vacation cold and the sinus congestion is helping my Lauren Bacall impression. Hot tea is steeping and currently in the middle of a Food Network binge to make me feel better.

Before flying back home, we had the most amazing final meal of the vacation at Red Rooster Overtown in Miami. By far the best fried fish I’ve ever had with red curry and plantain fried rice. The decor and vibe are also perfect. Cannot wait to go back! #GayBear

One of the funniest things about The West Wing is how an episode can be absolutely heart-wrenching, and then it ends with the most uplifting and plucky end-credit music imaginable.
My MAGA seat mate on this flight is watching Fox News, so I’m watching The West Wing to balance it out.

Spiderwebs by No Doubt was echoing through the grocery store aisles last night and I was surprised how the nostalgia hit me like a brick. I was 8 when Tragic Kingdom came out, and as a KROQ LA kid, that album played nonstop for years. It’s bittersweet with how Gwen is now, but it still made me smile
