#histbookchat "The Soong Dynasty" has been on my bookshelf for a very long time. Thought it was time to follow the money to better understand the Republican period power dynamics before getting into biographies on Jiǎng Jièshí (AKA Chiang Kai-shek). Has anyone read this?

[November 10th, 1945] British and Indian forces shelled Surabaya to suppress Indonesian nationalists, who declared a Holy War. Fighting intensified with Indonesian reinforcements arriving, and reports suggest 20,000 armed Japanese may be aiding rebels.
