The Tiny graduated her Life Skills I Class last night and was quite pleased with herself. She was flawless and on the way out one of the other humans said "I don't believe she is actually blind." She is... and she is a perfect little peanut.

Trying to find the positive in all things...yes, I have ice damming, but it sure is pretty.

When the small, human world is a troubled place, the more-than-human world welcomes us home with grace. 💚 Nature is medicine. Get out there. Trust me on this. #foresttherapy #nature

Seen on our walkies yesterday. Nature is often harsh, but it is never cruel. Because cruelty requires intent to harm for harm's sake. Only humans do that. #nature

Whether you mark today as #Imbolc or Brigid's Day or the halfway point between winter solstice and vernal equinox, take a moment to appreciate spring's advance and set your intention for the season to come. I am planting seeds of resilience and resolve. (Pic from 2024) #nature #foresttherapy

My LinkedIn feed is full of people bragging about or strategizing for growth: capital growth, audience growth. Imagine what this handsome tree could tell us about real growth and survival, well beyond puny human timescales. This is the kind of growth I want to hear about. #foresttherapy #nature

The Tiny would very much like the outsides to be above 0 degrees F so she can continue her obsessive pursuit of Le Squirrel, thank you. (Meanwhile, we both hope Le Squirrel is hunkered down somewhere safe and cozy.)

A friend who says she "leverages" her social media to "manifest" success told me I need to "curate" my feed to show me only at my "aspirational best." Sure. So here's me transporting a couple great dogs from a crowded city shelter to a rural one where they are much more likely to get adopted.

Other current read: BabyOrc gives it a one-ear rating but that's her default 😄 I bought it on a whim for the cover art. A few pages in I thought "no, not for me" but I am glad I kept going. It's a different kind of book for me, but there are many beautiful moments in it.

I started getting into mushrooms a couple years ago (observing, not consuming!) and now they are among my favorite residents to encounter in the forest. Check these turkey tails out! The entire stump was covered with them.

1 of 2 current reads. Love it. Beautiful writing, delicious science. Because "What are men to rocks and mountains?" (Jane Austen)

The Tiny. My wee foster fail. Brought her home "for the weekend" in late June because she was really struggling in the overcrowded shelter. Kept her for summer, taking her to adoption events. No one wanted her. 😔 Decided in October she was already home and adopted her. She happens to be blind.

The two superseniors, BabyOrc (right) and Dumbledork (left) celebrating their (approximate) 12th birthdays this month. ❤️ They have (most) of my heart.

Taking my first steps into the BlueSky community and hoping to find my fellow bear nerds, dog lovers (cat lovers ok, too), aspiring ents, and authentic humans. Image is of fresh brown bear tracks on the beach near Brooks Camp, Katmai National Park, Alaska. Taken during my first visit in 2022.
