Really nice 1953! 😎

Not a critique, but I am always curious about how people approach player runs. Gilliam's head appears on the 1973 and 1974 Walter Alston manager cards. Do those count?
Finished my Jim Gilliam Topps run with addition of 61 and 62. #cardsky

Need some encouragement to order @forgottendodger.bsky.social? How about these blurbs from @amaraniss.bsky.social and @profloumoore.bsky.social, two authors who know a lot more than me about writing books. I'm grateful for their support during this process.

Happy Birthday to the pioneer! Jackie broke through the First Gate of integration in 1947, and the Second Gate (with Jim Gilliam) in 1954 when Brooklyn started more Black players than white in a game. @forgottendodger.bsky.social is officially released next week! Photo is 1953 spring training.

As we continue counting down to 2.4.25 release day, here is Gilliam in a 1950s era magazine ad endorsing Crosley televisions. Gilliam was featured in a variety of ads - gum, cigarettes, cola, and televisions.

Missed two days on the countdown but back tonight with a classic 1955 Topps Doubleheader card. These cards folded to create cards of two different players. Thankfully for my bank acct, Gilliam’s pairing with Ellis Kinder of the Red Sox made this pretty affordable.

Let’s stick with 1954 for our daily memorabilia countdown to release day. Today it’s a 1954 Red Man Chewing Tobacco card (no tab). Of the 25 NL players in the set, 7 were Dodgers. Gilliam is NL14.

Today’s Gilliam countdown to publication post is his 1954 NY Journal American card. One of 59 in the set, the card features the Brooklyn schedule on the back. On the front is a number and information on how to win cash if the number appeared in the newspaper.
