3/ but were they participating in the conversation? Did we have an understanding? They seemed to be operating from a different principal of gravity from us, but who among those gathered were the ones leaning at a dangerous angle? Point of view and scale are important...

2/ To “understand” in old English meant you stood among people who shared certain knowledge (because “under” and “among” were interchangeable concepts back then). Alex Adkinson’s industrial/organic steel sculptures stood among the guests at the show closing at Sawhorse on Saturday...
