Favour a balanced perspective that takes into account the nuances of life…
Worse than that- I would fear coming forward as it would paint a target on me for a cover up operation

This reminds me of the scene where Oskar Schindler explains to Goethe the power of kindness- “Power is when we have every justification to kill - and we don't."
a man is giving the middle finger in front of a mirror and saying `` i pardon you ... '' .

Or loads of people don’t realise they are being played by those who seek to divide and conquer?

In light of the fact that the US has had a male president of colour but no women at all, it could be argued that on the whole, Americans are less racist than they are sexist. But clearly a massively incompetent white man supersedes both.

For a start we need to recognise that the world these kids live in is not the one we grew up in. Schools are still set up primarily as childcare for parents to work in a model conceived 100+yrs ago, relying on shame & unquestioning compliance & preparing them for jobs that no longer exist.

One part of a much more nuanced situation.

I wonder if this is part of the fear around Epstein files

Oh not just your country btw. The entire planet is currently half a mile from royally fucked.

simply spending more isn’t always the solution. Smart investment, prioritisation, and efficient use of resources can rebuild services without reckless borrowing - strategy matters, not just throwing money at problems, especially given the precarious global economic and geopolitical situation
December 14, 2025 at 9:40 PM
Maybe you were in a lucky area that retained local Sure Start centres but largely funding was cut or reduced, and provision became patchy and inconsistent. There was no national, coordinated hub model integrating early childhood services, health, play, SEND support, and parenting help.
December 14, 2025 at 9:36 PM
Government money isn’t unlimited. It comes from taxes, borrowing, and other revenue. Spending more means higher debt, possible inflation, or less for other services. So while the government can choose to invest, practical, economic, and political limits make money effectively finite.

Family Hubs didn’t exist under the Tories. Sure Start centres carried on but with less funding and were pretty patchy. Labour has brought them back, expanded them, and rebranded them as Family Hubs, combining health, childcare, play, SEND support, and early help for kids.

Labour hasn’t spent more on youth clubs due to tight budgets (salted earth) and many competing priorities- the NHS, welfare and housing - the focus is on integrated youth hubs/services rather than just clubs. It shows a willingness to prioritise young people which hasn’t been the case previously
December 14, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Also bringing back Sure Start - the longitudinal outcomes on the original were excellent
December 14, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Also ‘investment in youth clubs and community hubs to provide safe spaces, mentorship, and educational support for young people, helping them develop skills, confidence, and social connections.’
December 14, 2025 at 9:09 PM
The Tories salted the earth so nobody could succeed after them. As a former teacher I like the curriculum changes to include lessons on democracy, civic participation, and tackling misogyny/sexism, aiming to counter extremism, online radicalisation and gender-based harm through education.
December 14, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Labour has raised the minimum wage, boosted UC, scrapped the two-child benefit cap, expanded free school meals, strengthened workers’ rights, funded NHS recovery, invested in housing and youth services, cut bus fares, frozen rail fares, began rail renationalisation, and backed jobs and skills.

I think they mean the Johnson/ Rees-Moggs of the previous government who were only interested in helping out their wealthy mates. They don’t give a fuck about us plebs (aka ordinary people)

We need to recognise this is about democracy vs authoritarianism. And most people are not clued up enough to realise that we are being actively steered towards fascism. All hands to the pump of democracy I say!
