After an itty bitty, totally overblown, not even a big deal breaking and entering charge, Grace Greenley is lucky that this small Arizona community is the only thing she's serving.

I didn't do a lot today but I did finish Clair Obscur, get high, listen to "Une vie à t'aimer" 10 times in a row, cry, learn the English translation of the song, cry again, play the song 10 more times in a row with the context of the English translation, and cry again so #clairobscur #expedition33

Gallows humor is frequently how we cope here but no one signs up for this work with aspirations of grim reaperhood. He wouldn’t know it but he’s put voice to maybe my greatest fear. “Tucker, she needs a radio!” Jamie demands, quiet enough to skirt yelling accusations but loud enough to interrupt Tucker’s behavioral analysis. “You got it, boss.” Tucker unclips a walkie talkie from his belt and flips it over to me. I catch a wink when he lets go. He’s handsome in a safe, approachable way. Ryan is handsome like this; like Disney camouflage on a snake.

I'm currently hyperfixated on this round of revisions and so annooyyyyeeeeddd that my brain only has like... 2 consecutive hours max per day where it knows how to harness that neuroses in any sort of productive way.

I rocket upright, not out of compliance, but excitement. “Katherine! That is the most consecutive words in a row you have ever said to me and you used them in a threat! I’m so proud of you!” She keeps her eyes on the desk but there’s a subtle quirk to her lips that wasn’t there before. Positive or negative, I like reactions from people. Maybe it’s the dog trainer in me but body language carries so much more information than words do.

An excerpt from the WIP romcom, Kennel Duty: I gravitate toward big dogs but I do have a soft spot for the littles. People frequently ignore their pleas for space because when an animal the size of your forearm growls at you… it’s funny, so the trend is to ignore them and then all these little dogs grow up with complexes and we’re left wondering why Princess Peaches bites anything that moves too fast in her peripherals.
