First Big Board of 2025

Only focusing on prospects I have really spent time with

Many names are missing, that’ll change as the year goes on. Want to have this list grow as the year goes on.

It’s so fun going between here and the other place for draft stuff

Vastly vastly different

Still wish more folks came here

Petition to change the apron rules to the Hardens

You can’t make this trade you are in the first harden

Harden Durant and Kyrie are the main culprits for the nba having these rules
December 29, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Would do both of these. The Harper version would be shades of Hali trade with SAC imo.

If the Cavs are a smart team they capitalize this ASAP
December 28, 2025 at 6:12 PM
If Koby Altman and the cavaliers are a smart organization they will start fielding offers for Donovan Mitchell after getting out of the second apron.

Won’t get 5 firsts but you’d recoup the lost assets while definitely getting a blue chipper in return

If I’m Cleveland I’m calling San Antonio

felt this way for years!

I dub them ‘sell the farm trades’ they almost always never work

speed’s up your timeline, creates unnecessary pressure, and you end up giving 1 or 2 players that you will still need

Seeing this happen with my Cavs in real time! Imagine if they still Lauri and picks!
Going all in for Giannis is tempting, but history suggests it could end in disaster. “The NBA,” says one exec, “is not very good at learning from its mistakes.”

New from me, at The Ringer: When going ALL IN goes wrong

Should You Go All In for Giannis? History Screams No.
NBA teams love going all in for superstars. It almost never works.

If Darius Garland plays on a hobbled toe the entire year his trade value will take a massive hit

Couple that fact with the other fact that Evan has looked not great as the full time 5

And i can really see a world where the Cavs run it back AGAIN

Not saying it’s the correct thing to do…

The catch 22 cavaliers
December 7, 2025 at 5:01 AM
This is also still ringing true. This is the Cavs team moving forward. They can trade one of the core 4 to improve. But trading garland or Allen will be very hard.

The trades that do work won’t necessarily improve the team.

They can either hit the reset button. Or continue to run it back.
This is essentially our core now

The only way we can improve the team from here is dealing one of the core 4

Really hope they raise a trophy in the next 3 years

I’ve been thinking about this trade for almost a full year now.

My gut told me at the time it was a mistake. Starting to feel that way again with Hunter recent stretch.

Caris was really good at setting up the bigs and initiating offense

Hunter is a bad passer rebounder and off ball defender
My gut reaction is the cavs finally have a legit swing but people are largely overrating hunters defense and vastly underrating Caris’s ability to dribble pass and shoot

Cpj and Ty are going to have to really step up (they have to this point)

But man this is risky to me 1/2
December 7, 2025 at 4:56 AM
Cavs would get a huge haul for him

Could still keep Mobley Allen garland

To me that is the smartest way out

Do they do this? Probably not

Don will be 30 next year. Once he loses even half a step he’s a completely different player. I really hope the front office is smart enough to realize this
I’m not necessarily doom and gloom and think there future is fucked

Fans don’t want to hear it but this might just be a year from hell

I have no idea how they improve the roster dramatically going forward because of the 2nd apron

What would presti do? I think he would trade Mitchell
December 4, 2025 at 4:20 PM
The Cavs were 56-11 at the time garland sprained his toe last year

They are 21-27 since

officially sounding alarm bells in Cleveland

Fans are gonna hate this but I’m imagining a scenario where Cleveland’s forced to run it back again

Not because they want to but because of the new rules
December 4, 2025 at 4:15 PM
The only trade giannis trades i see shifting the title odds are any that involve the knicks or hawks

A spurs trade would make them a better title bet NEXT YEAR imo. Not this year. Think they would need an offseason to iron out the bench.

Who knows tho. Maybe wemby and giannis is good enough now
December 3, 2025 at 5:35 PM
Cavs really might have something in Tomlin. His energy translating against a team like the rockets and Durant will likely earn him a contract.

I think people are going to be slow to come around to this opinion but this is where I’m at thus far into the year

I’ve seen enough thus far to put Caleb Wilson ahead of AJ Dybantsa I think

Is there much difference between their size and athleticism? No

AJ is a better self creator.

But that’s about it. I think Caleb is more advanced in defense and the passing feel has been better then AJ

I think the rockets have a real chance at the title this year

I really fear they might be the next okc level team

They probably would have been this year if not for Fred getting hurt

Reed having a 5 bpm is INSANE
November 17, 2025 at 5:39 PM
The state of the Cavs is very concerning

Even with the injuries they have they shouldn’t be struggling to get a rhythm with a no Ja grizzlies

Don needs to understand with no Darius he HAS to be a playmaker
November 15, 2025 at 10:55 PM
I think there is a very good chance Trae young signs for significantly less than his value

The second apron is going to create this until the punt the rules

Teams are going to be forced to decide on their cores and punt the rest

I really do not like this. It feels like forced parity.
November 14, 2025 at 3:06 PM
Encouraging data especially given the injuries which is why I’m not quite panicking especially since it’s November

buuuut Garlands health is now more essential then ever. If he has to be shut down until February then so be it.
The early list of championship contenders:

––Thunder
––Rockets
––Nuggets
––Knicks
––Cavs

Below is Net Rating adjusted for strength of schedule via Dunksandthrees.com. The NBA champion is almost always a top-5 team in this stat (20 of the past 22 champs)

Early season Cavs thoughts

Jaylon and Sam playing this well is huge!

We have 2 players who can drive the ball which isn’t good at all and the main reason I’m very worried about their future

Mobley largely looks the same as last year to me. Still would like to see more usage!
