I think this is right. There are many good reasons not to do this the most impt that it would hurt lots of people. But if they were exclusively trying to optimize for electoral success it seems right.

Yep, even absent legislative reform the next admin must seek to demonize the court publicly and constantly the way Trump attacks his enemies. It's worth the political price bc there's nothing else. Even a DOGE-like scam to withhold funding. They need to know their destruction is a policy goal.
