cc @jseattle.bsky.social — I know that they've been installing quite a few of them on the hill, but I wasn't very optimistic about this one. A major safety improvement for anyone living northeast of this intersection!

What's really silly about this change is that you can get a regional day pass for $6 and each monorail ride will still be only $1 extra (no change per the email), so basically the same price $7 as a one-way combined Link+monorail trip. Now if only they had an automatic cap...

As for the parents, I don't think it's fair to characterize them as "opportunistic". The article highlights that they didn't sue for wrongful death, so there's really no reason to believe anything other than grieving parents are doing whatever they can to prevent this from happening again.

Teens are going to do stupid shit, especially when they hang out with friends at the park. I believe we're better off when we design public spaces in a way that the consequence of doing stupid shit is not death.

We're doing a duck this year. Perfect for a small gathering, and must tastier!

All of my conversations with people I know moved to group chats (primarily Signal). Bluesky has been a decent replacement for public conversations and interacting with people I don't know (or at least not as well) but share common interests.

Yeah it's a brutal stretch. That's the time they'll need in March to replace the turf with grass ahead of the World Cup.

I hesitate between this and just unfollowing the people who post about it, because I seriously question the judgment of anybody who cares about this uninteresting s**t.

I don't know what it is with Ms. Rachel but our daughter turns into a zombie when watching, no turning the head, no blinking 😅 even during Bluey and her other favorite shows, at least she talks to us once in a while!

I'm assuming it's to distinguish them from the produce paper bags, which are free.

I heard "Harrell is not good but at least he has experience" way too many times during this campaign.

The betweens seem to follow the direction of the wind, so if they like their City Council seats and want to keep them in two years, I suspect we'll see them side way more often with progressives than in the past two years. One can hope at least!

Yep. It wasn't used much either because... well, there wasn't much to rally about unfortunately. Not sure where you are located but happy to give you our extra towel.

Everything I'm seeing (and hearing from my wife who lived in SF while he was Mayor) is that Gavin is a good member of the opposition but a pretty bad elected official. I fear that many people will value the former over the latter at the ballot box, and I wish we had more people who are good at both.

We have two and I don't think my wife will let me keep more than one 😅 I think we may also have one extra from the ALDS.

That it's only +7 in the NYT poll, and +17 in the best poll, shows how well oiled the propaganda machine is. It should be +50! They control the entire government! They are abusing their power left and right!

I didn't like it, but I prefer it this way than any other way. Onwards!

I still think he was an asshole but man, I also think about this quote a lot, and for very different reasons than just 5 years ago.

"In the middle of the Pacific Ocean" — do they even know where Alcatraz is?

Yes... and it takes two to tango, so we can also "thank" the Bartell family for selling it to what was already a failing company at the time (while acknowledging that PBMs have made it difficult for independent drugstores to be successful).
