This is horrific 😔 I walk and drive by this intersection all the time. One small thing I hate about this specific crosswalk is that the walk sign is completely obscured by a leaning utility pole, so you have to wait for cars to start turning into you to know that the walk sign is on.

The most worrying part of this chart is that billionaires used to have "only" enough money to buy yachts and mansions, and now they are outright buying our public institutions.
The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

You heard the story: an AI bot wrote and published a hit piece targeting the maintainer of a popular open-source library. But what's been missing from the narrative is that *somebody* started that bot and sent it to the library repository, and that person is still escaping all accountability.

This is so f***ed up. When many of us were laid off from Twitter, Slack accounts were not marked as deactivated, so people had to basically "like this post if you are still here" to figure out who was above or below the cut line.

Don't threaten me with a good time!
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

Regardless of where you stand on using income tax revenue to cut some other regressive taxes, the fact that the bill exempts suntan from sales tax but not diapers tells me that we need *way* more parents of young kids in the legislature.
The Senate Democrats' proposal for a Millionaires' Tax devotes 6-7% of revenue to tax relief.

It has to be a lot more. We need to make Washington more affordable for working families. That’s my North Star.

Hey @schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, did the deal you make include not tear gassing little kids, or are you waiting until the next shutdown to demand it?
if you’re tear gassing little kids you lose your job, you get arrested, tried, and jailed

simply no other option in a civilized society, these goons must face consequences

It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.

But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

Seems pretty clear now that if we are at 1st and Goal in the last minute of the Super Bowl against the Patriots, Mike Macdonald is going to send Kenneth Walker as many times as needed instead of calling a cute slant route.

I love the phrasing in the executive order: "creating irresistibly good transit service". We should strive to make public transit the undeniably superior option! (two years of I-5 lane closures + the full opening of line 2 may give us a good push towards this vision)
The second item: "We're going to be getting out the red paint on Denny Way," Wilson said. "We cannot let one of our highest ridership routes languish in traffic." Bus lane inbound.
