Meanwhile, 41% of US churches infiltrated by the NAR on some level, all safeguards dismantled

And I can say, as someone who grew up in the movement (and of note: the people who have reported the most in-depth, and the longest, re NAR Christian Nationalism have been--with exactly *two* exceptions--ex-NAR survivors) folks have tried to warn for a half century only to be told systems would hold

(And to explain that last one: "Manifest Sons of God" (movement NAR is part of) pastor from Germany who had links to Nazi regime got busted for serial child sexual abuse, left Germany and founded commune in Chile, collaborated with Pinochet regime to use said commune to disappear, torture, kill ppl)

Literally one of the groups involved (the New Apostolic Reformation) has historical links to the 2nd KKK on one end *and* to both OG Nazis and neo-Nazis (from a white supremacist "sister-mother church" it spawned from, to "The Family" aka "The Fellowship" & its links to fascism, to Colonia Dignidad)

This is where I remind people that what you are seeing in the US is the culmination of literally an infiltration and subversion attempt by Christian Nationalists (and, in general, Christian Nationalists associated with the unreconstructed South) that has gone on for close to 100 years

I know I'm going to get an earful about this, so let me state that Gavin Newsom is far from perfect. very far from perfect. I have a lot of problems with the stuff he's done. but right now, he's meeting the moment, and we should celebrate that
