And, yes, wildlife, we need to stop washing nitrate + phosphate into a river where salmon are perilously close to becoming locally extinct.
Water crowfoot in the River Wye

The salmon population of the Wye is in collapse, and Atlantic salmon are now endangered in the UK. Those bringing the court case argue the needs of intensive farming cannot be permitted to outweigh the needs of fish, wildlife + river users.

I'm not sure Fiona but I'd do some research if I were you & also let wildlife trusts & other nature conservation organisations know about your rewilded acre.

"Wasting good land" about sums up that attitude of village "countrymen and "ministers" I dislike most about this country .. a sort mix of arrogant disrespect, ignorance & entitlement.

Good evening everyone 🌎 ⚘️🍂🪶

Herbst. Zeit. Lose. Versammlung.

So that's it then. The biggest fish kill in the history of the State, and we're just going to move on, with no idea who or what caused it?

It would be better to label it a river kill.

Some major polluter is today breathing a sign of relief, while the river Blackwater remains half dead.

you know I can't fathom this lack of understanding and respect some have for land and all that lives in it, on it and above it Chis.
We humans seem to have lost something vitally important to us.

Exciting goings-on in our garden!

2 weeks ago one Grass #Snake in the first clip had opaque blue eyes, indicating he/she was about to shed his/her skin.

Wind forward a couple of weeks... and the 2nd clip shows that newly shed skin, which I found in the same spot yesterday afternoon! #wildlife

Great pic of Kestrel outside its comfort zone!
I see them on the ground in wet weather when they're hunting for worms .. which they do surprisingly often ..
from a damp day on #NewtimberHill taken after I'd watched this female spying the ground from the branch of a tree for a good while ..

That was personal and painful Fiona when you loved the land, the plants & wildlife that lived there & then watch & hear their destruction. I've seen it on neighbouring plots when the old holders die & new ones come in w new ideas, strimmers & tools, but it's not the same as your keen loss.

Ahh great #BirdOfTheDay .. both #Kestrel and the #Tit alternative
See the Kestrel often on my walks and they always impress me or they make me smile.
Here are two pics which caused those two different reactions ..

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Raccoons are one of the most common mammals seen in the USA that aren't domesticated. They're extremely smart, proven by several studies, to have the ability to solve puzzles and pick locks using their incredible memories. Their teeth are interesting too....
A night, black and white photo from my garden showing a raccoon sitting down facing the camera. It's holding its front paws together close to the ground. Its black face mask and nose are visible as are its little, roundish raccoon ears. Its mouth is slightly open giving a look at its teeth including its canine teeth. There are plants and shrubs to the side of the raccoon and behind it. There are small landscaping rocks on the ground.

Kemi Badenoch blames those crossing borders for our problems. It’s a lie aimed to distract.

The real issue is a system protecting the super-rich while nurses & carers can’t make ends meet. Tax wealth fairly, fund public services properly. This is how we give Britain hope again.
