🏅 Three years ago today, Ales Bialiatski was announced as a #NobelPeacePrize laureate.

At that time, he had already been imprisoned in #Belarus. Today, he is still behind bars, serving a 10-year sentence for exactly what he was celebrated for: defending #humanrights in our country.

Since July 2024, #Belarus authorities have pardoned 100s political prisoners but haven't scaled back on repression.

At least 1184 remain behind bars. Among them Nobel winner Ales Bialiatski & other #Viasna colleagues. Their families wait for their return.

At today’s UN Human Rights Council side event, human rights activist highlighted the ongoing repression in #Belarus.

Although 170 pardons were issued, many were deported with passports taken, while 283 new #politicalprisoners were jailed.
