the uk sugary drinks law is a great exercise in dialectics bc look it is a huge government overreach and you can draw a million slippery slopes from it some already real but also we got the only mcdonalds in europe serving dirty sprite that feels worth the calories (bc it’s 0) so it’s a 50-50 rlly

I strongly believe in the breadth and influence of independent art, to grant us oblique angles on the world and ourselves.
But also every indie game is somewhere on this spectrum:

A triangular range chart labeled "Indie Game Vibe Check", where the three axes are "Enpoisoned", "Pumpy's Big Clumpy", and "Misty Cube". between that and what seems like very 'safe' qol features (maps, fast travel, quest log) it worries me that they thought the issue here is that they didnt have a time machine to make it closer to mario odyssey at launch and not that 1/5 of the game is the swamp world

i always found it v clever how some of the late unlocks (like flight) just dead-ass trivialized early challenges. so you just don't get moves that act as keys for locks but also the difficulty is nicely set up in that way. go for it now w pain or come back later. and cheese it. an rpg with no levels

its a bummer that they just unlock all abilities. the original didnt execute the diet metroidvania thing super well but it was still a joy to revisit levels as you got more and more jacked up

The artists changed the road layout to slow the player down.

In other problem areas, we increased the drag (air resistance) on the vehicles 5% or so. Hardly noticeable but it helped.

The streaming issues were the main reason we couldn’t let the player fly in gta3 (other than with the dodo)
