Case in point: my 4 yo is excited to have my mum visit because he thinks she can make any dish that has butter in it and apparently I’m “still learning”.
I won’t tell him that my grandma used a lot more butter than does my mum.

I’ve been cooking like a grandma, adding more butter, cream and/or salt to everything and I must say, there’s a reason why grandmas’ cooking is so popular.

Probably not a universal statement. Interesting how many people relate to it though.

About twenty leading scholars came together at ENAP to reflect on the future of AI and emerging technologies governance. Here’s what it looks like when they answer my questions for you (in French and English). 👇

Ok, I abdicate. You are the queen of IR pop culture integration.

Although I would argue in that example we really faced a bipolar system that came under attack which led to a period of instability with different middle powers trying to take over and become the hegemon.

In Edmonton, the IKEA cafeteria has switched from reusable dinnerware to compostable ones and Starbucks no longer accepts my reusable mug for health safety reasons. Are businesses regressing on sustainability because there’s not enough pressure?

Montréal has so many third-wave coffee places! As for pastries, the French in me wants to see a European influence with less sugar (not less flavour) maybe?

… around which I used to schedule my meetings, and I get emotional. It’s been a tough three years, it’s also been a good three years, and I’m not going to lie: although I have a lot of moments of self-doubt, right now I’m pretty proud of myself.

This summer, I have had to write several reports on my work over the last three years. While tedious, it’s also allowed to pause and realize I have accomplished a lot. As I am currently wrapping up one of those reports, my eyes linger on the breast pump still sitting in my office,…

I have had issues of short-term memory loss for a few years (thanks, kiddos), but I am 99% sure I have never written this paper.
I guess thanks for thinking of me, chatGPT.

Someone posting how sometime research is slow sounds like a useful post… Until they end up listing the three article manuscripts and two book chapters they submitted over the summer.

Congrats to @devoncantwell.bsky.social for successfully defending her PhD dissertation, “Who leads and who follows? A study of norms in global city climate governance”! (Also my first PhD student to defend).

This is also how we make our lives better. By talking to people around us, accepting their help, sharing food... We intuitively know this is good for us, but some (many?) of us need to experience it.

As someone who has moved a lot in the last 15 years, building community was not on the top of my mind. But the more I think about the climate crisis in a context of polarization, the more I believe creating/strengthening community is key. More knowledge mobilization on that topic is needed.

It’s never too late to protect the people and places you love.

In times like these, where those in power are failing to protect us from the #ClimateCrisis, we need to strengthen our local communities. 🧵

Maybe everyone understands that AI doesn’t “think”, but everyone also understands that soy doesn’t make “milk” and yet we’ll all drinking soy beverage, so maybe we should revise the standards for what companies associate with “thinking”.
