think the thing that fundamentally makes the series unusual is that we're used to 'chosen one' narratives but the series is multiple at once - jake, lo'ak, kiri and spider all embody distinct riffs on that trope.

but i think it speaks to the series' origin as basically a colonial allegory. the mode is space fantasy but the template is historical - and it generally didn't end well for any of them. curious as to how they resolve that when the series concludes

love these films as, like, cameron's folly. think what they're missing for all it's visual scale is a goal - like jake and the others are basically just reactive. theres no 'get the ring to mordor' kind of mission
