NEW - Keir Starmer is planning a King’s speech in the week after the May local elections.

Will be reset moment at a time when his leadership may be under threat.

Bills could include AI, immigration, planning and electoral reform.

the BBC hiring Blue Zoo to make nursery-age pitched Dr Who animation is the smartest thing theyve done with the series in a long time. Great pick too.

on the last level of first berserker khazan - this game is absolutely wonderful, some all timer bosses. Combat system astonishing. Imo better than Nioh 2's because the bosses are more demanding

So much of the right wing memeplex right now is based on just acting in total bad faith at all times
Goodwin (like similar voices) is being totally dishonest about this. Despite the equal dishonesty of its headline, the Mail story shows these weren't "anti-immigration tweets", they were calls for "slaughter" and mass violence against MPs. It's incredible that this is being openly condoned.

something genuinely tragic and embarrassing to the PM clearly convinced he can tough it out. Completely disconnected.

Wife: i am so heartbroken. I wish cathy had lived so her and heathcliff could do vlogs together where they bully people

Me: this is the most innovative take on wuthering heights in ages

The sociopathic tone of glee and mockery is bad enough, but that's really not the worst of it. He made up a claim that a Trump supporter had done it, *in order to say that would be good and justified.* Unambiguously telling his most insane cult followers that murdering his opponents makes him happy.

A movement that demands grace and empathy whenever someone from their side suffers while offering none to the other isn’t really a movement that gives a shit about anything other than power and control
utterly incapable of grace

Making up lies about a political opponent is nasty but not completely outside the bounds of normal discourse. Celebrating the death of the guy who directed "When Harry Met Sally", um, is.

Reform MP Danny Kruger on pornstar/provocateur Bonnie Blue announcing her support for the party: "We’ll take votes from wherever we can get them, we want all the support we can get. Quite like Bonnie Blue."

Says party isn't "going to be fussy, we're not going to be judgemental" about Reform voters

Failing to even check his linkedin before running with false claims about his education and career would indicate they did literally zero factchecking.
This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants

Terribly sad news about Rob Reiner, especially that the circumstances make it hard for anyone to grieve in a conventional way. Thanks for the films, Mr R, hard to add much to this (ignore North):

This also applies to national politics in general, I think. There is too much toothpaste now out of the tube to even go back to the veneer of organically arising democratic deliberation and basic decency of, say, 2010.
