I mean the assertion that no one in the US sees border disputes as life or death, or that no one in the US has ever experienced an invasion or the impact of an invading force, which is kind of wild to claim about a country founded on ethnic cleansing and kidnapping.

A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

I know that the people who actually speak Walloon fluently are vanishingly few, mostly over 60, and probably almost universally not on Bluesky, but I'm curious if there's an anglophone academic out there who's as into Wallonia as me
