The attitude of "let's see the people feeling disenfranchised trying to enfranchise themselves and tell them they are to be hated for doing so" is sadly very strong. It is odd how some politicians appear unable to acknowledge that people who violate society's norms are not meaningfully integrated - and that this is irrespective of race, religion, immigration status etc.
