I like frogs. St. Louis, Missouri. Bisexual, he/him.
Hanaway is just a continuation of a line of activist AG's from Missouri. 4 months ago the @missouriindependent.com quoted her as saying she'll focus on, "Medicaid fraud, consumer protection and violent crimes" and not "headline-grabbing lawsuits" bsky.app/profile/frog...
"Vowing a 'Different style'" = Same agenda, but let the underlings grandstand a bit more.

And they often are not even very intelligent, well spoken or organized. They are just haphazardly dumb and mean, quite confident they won't be challenged on their points, or held to any public accountability for their bigotry.

Just to clarify my point. Be extremely wary about agreeing with Republicans in medicalizing transgender issues. It won't lead to housing and job accommodations, it will lead to stigma and institutionalizations. They use the mask of care and concern to mask their bigoted agenda.

I was listening to a Missouri senate committee hearing just yesterday and the Republican senators compared transgender people to amputation fetishists or people who believe they are actually batman. Its really bad out here.

Sadly, the Missouri legislature is doing this as well #moleg The Missouri bills target private businesses and clubs, even non-public buildings HB2314, and SB 1389 creates a private cause of action to sue. bsky.app/profile/frog...
Continuing 🧵 discussing #moleg bills the Missouri Republicans are pushing to target the adult LGBT community. HB 2314 and SB 1389 are bathroom bills that target any business in the state. Other bills target schools or government buildings, but these bills aim for society-wide bans. 1/6
Missouri Republicans are pushing drag show ban bills. However, HB 1702, 2407, and SB 1164, 1476 don't target just drag shows, but every gay bar, winery or restaurant, and Pride festivals. A 🧵 discussing the wide scope of these #moleg bills. 1/8

If trans healthcare is not protected under Amd 3 as Reproductive health care, then the Republicans ballot effort must be struck down as violating the single subject rule. 9/x www.senate.mo.gov/26info/BTS_W...

It is clear Republicans will continue to cynically use youth trans healthcare as ballot candy, and a completely incurious MAGA judiciary will just shrug at the inconsistent treatment in the law. If trans healthcare is Reproductive healthcare then it is already protected under Amd 3. 8/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
It is clear Republicans have no consistent position on what Reproductive Health Care even means, unless it facilitates their undermining of abortion access and/or trans healthcare in any situation. Sadly, the Mo MAGA judiciary seems all too willing to rubber stamp this incoherency 7/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
Yet now, not content to just wage a ballot campaign for fall 2026, Republicans seek to pass SB 861 which would tell courts to construe "Reproductive Health care" such as Amd 3, in any way except trans healthcare, even for adults. 6/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
This created a curious situation in court where Republicans suddenly claim that abortion access and transgender healthcare *are* one single subject, so it would pass the single subject requirement for ballot measures. 5/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
Republicans have mounted a campaign to repeal Amendment 3's protections for abortion access by adding "ballot candy" language claiming to ban child gender transitions, which is already banned under the SAFE act. 4/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
Once Republicans lost at the ballot box, they argued that under no circumstances does Amendment 3 protect transgender healthcare and went full steam ahead banning it for youth and restricting adult trans care. 3/x
January 27, 2026 at 12:29 AM
Initially Republicans campaigned against Amendment 3, wildly claiming it would allow child sex change surgeries. Once Amendment 3 passed and put Reproductive Healthcare into Missouri's constitution, the Republicans twisted their arguments into pretzels to try to challenge the law. 2/x

Republicans are already on record saying *out loud* that transgender Americans should not have 2A rights. The part that is still the *quiet part* is they don't think liberals should have 2A rights, either.

Fascinating data, Gavin! Its always interesting to look at how voters ticket-split

Mo Rep Schmidt claims there are legions of regretful people who had transgender healthcare who now regret it. I guarantee Mo Republicans holding this sham hearing can't produce one detransitioner for every 15 trans people who endorse trans healthcare #moleg www.erininthemorning.com/p/landmark-s...
Landmark Systematic Review Of Trans Surgery: Regret Rate "Remarkably Low"
A landmark systematic review has concluded that regret rate for transgender surgeries is "remarkably low," comparing it to many other surgeries and major life decisions.

The Missouri Supreme court wrote a mickey mouse 15 page opinion that cursorily dismissed rights of an entire class of people. It aped the flawed logic of Skrmetti, claiming that banning trans healthcare doesn't target transgender people, you see, just any person who'd want trans healthcare. #moleg

So the 6th circuit let stand TN's drag law, the 5th will hear this. They really want a generational-level redefining obscenity case in front of SCOTUS by 2027.

Trumps re-election and Musk's takeover of Twitter crafted a permission slip for bigots freely to express their worst thoughts. Normies see the phony likes by bots and think the worst opinions are popular. It wasn't Covid or institutions, it was the Overton window shifting via propaganda.
