Holding on to the beauty of my morning walks when things feel hard.
From yesterday’s walk, an eastern swallowtail butterfly drenched in sun and posing quite deliberately. Irresistible.

For years now, I take pictures of flowers on my morning walk and send them to a friend so that she can send them on to her much missed mother in India, who then shares them to all of her many friends around the world. It’s a small thing, but brings me so much quiet happiness.

This is the resurrection lily. The leaves grow first, then fade away. It appears to be dead and then the blooms arrive. Not a bad thing to hope for right now.

Also, I did not know I needed a giant chicken until today. Now, life is incomplete without one.

This little door, tucked into the base of a tree, was once part of a fairy garden for the neighborhood kids. They’re too grown for it now, but I love it even more like this. Gently re-wilding.

This morning walk. A flash of color as I passed a neighbor’s fence. Between the slats, a glimpse of sunshine and richness. Heavenly.

This morning walk took me up in the hills of the neighborhood, where one of the gardens has a pond with a mossy waterfall. It never fails to catch my eye.

Morning walk. The wish for peace on a garden fence and the joy of native wildflowers.

An ordinary morning walk with hints of joy - the splash of flowers and an ordinary lamppost given a touch of fantasy by the dawn sun.
