I wish I was better at writing. I keep on stumbling through. I know what I want to write; I know the basic plot for each chapter. But I barely get the first page before I read it back and think it’s terrible 🤦‍♂️

I took the day off in case my friend who was staying over the weekend stayed overnight. She didn’t (no problem with me) but now I’m stuck on what to do. I’ve done the laundry, cleaned the kitchen, sorted out my “instruction manuals” folder, sorted my freezer… I’m terrible at taking holidays 🤦‍♂️

I’m submitting an abstract for a conference in Glasgow. The word count is 450. I’m at 715 🤦‍♂️

Westminster will do this but the only oil refinery in Scotland has to close… and we wonder why Scots feel ignored by politicians in London.

Not one to brag, but I have furniture!

I think my next thing is learning to play #chess

I already know HOW the pieces move, but strategy is not my strong suit.

A friend was on a waiting list for adult #ASD assessment for 3 years. #NHS board has since closed down the service, but the waiting list has not been transferred to other board. Anyone know what can be done? #nhsforthvalley

On Thursday I had a meeting where I was told to hide my autistic behaviour on camera when using Teams. That’s the blunt truth. It was framed as a “don’t feel like you NEED to have your camera on if you’re struggling”. There’s a part of me dreading work now. #autism #neurodiverse

The WORST thing about R coding in my team is that I code with the tidyverse syntax; others code with base R syntax and as I never learned it, I really struggle to understand it. Tidyverse makes sense to me, base R code (with dfs called z flying everywhere) is so confusing.

I think I’m going nuts. I have definitely read a book where one of the plot points is “why read the book when you can get this summary” and I was sure it’s Fahrenheit 451, but now I’m doubting myself that it’s 1984 or another third sci-fi that I’ve read? #booksky

So I’m somehow on my seventh book… OF THE MONTH (and no I don’t do audiobooks as I’d just tune them out)

I started a book yesterday, and finished it today… I’m going to miss being on holiday and allowed to be a book gremlin #booksky

After opening birthday gifts (I’m 30 today!), I now have £165 to spend in Waterstones!

I think I might be spending a while picking books in the near future 👀 #booksky Recommendations required!

Is there anyone here who I can ask a question about Scot’s #gaelic #scotsgaelic #gaidhlig #learngaelic ?

I’ve been reading about history and I’m fairly certain some of the words are in Irish Gaeilge and not Gàidhlig and I want to make sure I get it right.

My work now involves a lot of demographic statistics and regression models. Today I’ve written a Sankey plot of treatment progression in >800 patients, but the treatment landscape is so varied, it’s made the graph completely unreadable…

Just saw a list of “classic books for beginners” and it included Wuthering Heights and East of Eden?! Noooope. Classics for beginners (mostly 20th Century) are:

Animal Farm (maybe 1984), Little Women, Rebecca, To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies, The Outsiders.

Is there any Windows application more unnecessary than SharePoint webpages?

I realise I’ve not used this account in ages, but with recent activity elsewhere, I’m definitely going to be using Bluesky more. The only issue is finding people!

Got a script with image segmentation function using 10 CPU nodes (capped at 10). Whole brain segmentation in 2 minutes. Amazed! Now to see if I can loop it for a small test batch before assessing accuracy… #neurosky
