Happy first night of Hanukkah to all who celebrate.
I’m alone in Krakow - the only Hanukkah I have ever missed with my wife and kids - so they sent me with a tiny magnetic menorah. I don’t think my hotel would be happy if I lit it… so this will have to do.

I’m wandering around Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter of Krakow.
I stumbled upon the Old Synagogue, the oldest remaining synagogue in Poland. Built between 1407 and 1570, the building was ransacked during WWII. 30 Polish hostages were executed here in 1943.

I’m wandering around Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter of Krakow.

Mission to Boise complete. I picked up my new car in Boise this morning and drove it 500 miles back home to Seattle. And I had tacos.
All in all, a successful day and a great roadtrip across three states.

Labor Day camping, hiking, and Jeeping with @aviationandfood.bsky.social and friends was cut short yesterday. As our group hiked the Naches Loop at Chinook Pass in Mt. Rainier National Park, we watched the pyrocumulus cloud from the Wildcat Fire grow ~6 miles away across the next ridge.

Last night we shared a bottle of mead (melomel, technically) while sitting around the campfire. The mead was given to me by a Norwegian friend as part of our ongoing trade of locally produced alcoholic beverages. I have a few months to consider how to top this one!

Seattle has the 11th highest GDP for cities in the US (2022), and is at the bottom of the list of cities ranked by crime rate in the US (195 out of 200).

Since I’m not in Madrid for #ietf123, I found a beautiful camping spot near the Skagit River. One of the dogs is keeping me company.
From here, I’ll join the IETF meetings remotely overnight. Then nap, hike, play fetch with Obie, and repeat the next day.

On my last day in Istanbul I took a quick trip to the Basilica Cistern and the spice bazaar before my flight. While the Basilica Cistern was expensive - about USD$30 - I'm glad I made the trip. #travel
