Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

I think you're overestimating Morelle's appeal, both to GOP voters and to younger Democrats tired of the do-nothing Schumer wing of the party.

Nobody's looking for compromise right now on either side, and that's all Joe seems inclined to do with votes like Laken Riley and Charlie Kirk.

I can't answer @billkuchman.bsky.social directly, but the answer is "probably not."

Unlike cable, OTT providers like YTTV and Fubo have retrans agreements with networks as a whole instead of individual stations. I don't think that gives them any ability to deliver out of market affiliates though.

Someone who understands the intricacies of cable rights — could “cable” companies like YouTube TV and Fubu take an ABC stream directly from Disney to air Kimmel in areas where the local affiliate is owned by Sinclair or Nexstar?

It's worse than that. There's long-standing precedent back to the 60s that if a network affiliate won't clear a show, it has to be offered to another station in the market.

The logical places to carry Kimmel instead of WHAM would be Fox or CW Rochester... but that's all Sinclair here.

By this standard, since the US is run at the national level by Republicans, ALL violent crime in the US is the responsibility of Republicans.

This thread from @chrismurphyct.bsky.social is good, but the reality is that "local actors" have been gone from local TV ownership for a long time now.

It's all big corps, and deals like Nexstar/TEGNA are just further consolidating what's already consolidated.

3/ Why? Because one company shouldn't control local speech in half the country.

Also, we want our local TV stations to be run by local actors to preserve local identity and prevent our culture from becoming soullessly flattened - which Nexstar was already doing!

But it's also part of a bigger, sadder picture in which the economics of local TV have shifted so abruptly.

Is anyone under 50 watching linear local TV news anymore? It's hard to afford to pay anyone with any experience a livable wage, which in turn accelerates the spiral.

The people who would attack a Morelle for a no vote on a messaging bill like this are going to attack him on plenty of other things anyway, and his yes vote won't mollify any of them.

Even if the bill is pointless, it would still be nice to see some amount of spine and courage from Jellyfish Joe.
