Adventure Time's Duke of Nuts being one of them.

Some are nods to prior campaigns...
Others, references to various movies and TV shows...
And some I just made up.

the PCs will be strangers*

Why am I unable to see the blatant error until after I hit "Post"?

I have a similar issue; all of my friends who understand TTRPGs are also in my campaign.
Fortunately, I found an active Discord server for the campaign module, so I can discuss my hare-brained scheming in relative privacy there.

Also /r/dmdivulge, although my players know my Reddit username.

A piece of advice I picked up somewhere was "consider what would happen to the NPC if they never met the party" - what is the trajectory of their life without the PCs?
Then it's easier to imagine how the NPC's life is changed.

...maybe they have a scar, or a limp, or can only eat through a straw...

Not really advice, more like that Doctor Who quote:

> Because you're going to be like that anyway. You might as well make it part of the plan, then it'll feel on purpose.

I turned my DM obsession into objects: I built a craft foam violin for my first campaign's Bard; and a dagger for the Rogue.

Just hyper fixate on the game world
Come up with unexpected and unintended consequences of the PCs actions
Think about what was missed and how that might become relevant in future sessions
Make physical props for future events, like letters or newspapers, even 3D print minis

My copy of Root has a misprinted cat piece. Naturally, this "wonky face" piece was IMMEDIATELY named General Wonkus and became the MOST IMPORTANT PIECE that must always be protected at all cost.

To this day, he has never been forcibly removed from the board.

Best.
Misprint.
Ever.

If no time travelers have come back to stop your nonsense, it can't be that bad, right?

Afterwards, I revealed that I had named that option the "Cliffs of Knievel" in my notes, and despite the fact that we all knew that failure would mean certain death, that I was almost certain that they would choose it.

...The War Machine did explode a little bit after making the jump, though.

I know it's been a year, but is this still an issue? I'm wondering if there's something that we can change on the Homebrewery side to improve screen reader compatibility.

My favourite addition so far is the "New > From Blank" button, which now wipes the content in the scratch space to give users an easy way to start a fresh document.

Nothing like "here's the consequences of this spell, you can choose it if you want but it will end the campaign for your character" and letting them opt out of it, to state exactly how much they don't want that

Then using that exact spell on them in the VERY NEXT BATTLE

UPDATE: They could have been banished and gone home. Instead, they chose to stay and fight!

...and then they fought a wizard, who attempted to split the party with Banishment. That wizard was hit so fast, so many times that they lost concentration almost immediately!
