Question: why is it normalized to be unemotional in academia?

Okay, I can probably guess the whys... but like, can it stop?! (E.g. me writing, "Sorry to be dramatic, but I'm desperate for this kind of community" in a cover letter)

I am so grateful to be taking three wonderful courses this semester. Pomo Basket Weaving, and two independent studies --- American Art Historiography with my grad school bestie and a survey of disability studies in/missing from art history with my academic advisor.

Also watched The Substance this weekend. I need to watch it five more times. “A movie that really feels like a movie”

Watched the incredible documentary Dahomey (dir. Mati Diop) thisweekend at the Philly Film Festival. Restitution from the perspective of West African objects. Nuanced and packed-full of info all while maintaining space for meditation and viewer reflection. a must watch imo

Uh oh my cats laid on me, sorry I can’t do the 400 pages of reading assigned for me this week! mid-way thought the semester and too many ideas floating in my brain. Do you ever have time to process as a grad student?
