“We have political leaders who insist that mining & forestry underwrite Australian prosperity. Those who believe this nonsense cannot be trusted with the wellbeing of future generations.”

“Mining & native forest logging industries, collectively, employ only ~2% of the labour force."

Big Gas is taking the piss. Help us spread the word, and share this. 👇

90% of WA’s gas is exported. Big Gas takes 73% the gas for free.

To add insult to injury, these gas exporters have never paid resources tax.

Add your name to make them pay their fair share: theaus.in/collect_gas_... #auspol

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example).
1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly.

How can it take over a decade to receive an endometriosis diagnosis? Like this:

I first saw a doctor about severe period pain in my early teens and was put on the contraceptive pill to help manage the pain, no tests were organised or run.

Number of fossil fuel lobbyists at most recent COPs:

COP26 (2021): 503
COP27 (2022): 636
COP28 (2023): 2,456
COP29 (2024): 1,773

Blame the petrostate hosts, I guess. But if trend does not reverse in Belem (Brazil) next year, COPs really seem to have been put in the hands of fossil fuel lobbies.

My HECS debt will be over $100K if I get in to a clinical psychology masters program ($65,000+). I thought student debt of this magnitude was only for Americans but it is now the norm for this profession. Absolutely crazy.

It’s clear who the Australian government prioritises #auspol
"The Australian Government collects more money from HECS than it does from the Petroleum Resource Rent Tax.

"Thank you, children. You're the backbone of our economy, not the gas industry."

Richard Denniss at the National Press Club, back in January. #auspol
