I love this shot I got of a Canada Goose with the Great Blue Heron in the background. The Heron looks unimpressed by the wing display. #BirdOfTheDay #Goose/orGeese #bird #birds

While monitoring the Bluebird nest in anticipation of their imminent fledging, I observed a female Summer Tanager perched nearby. Sightings of this species in my yard are exceedingly uncommon; in fact, this marks only the second instance I have recorded in nearly a decade. #bird #birds

Day three (hopefully the grand finale) of Bluebird nest watch.
Yesterday brought a flurry of first flights: one chick stumbled with a bit of drama, while the second soared out like it had rehearsed for weeks. Two little ones remain tucked in the box.

I've been on Bluebird nest watch since early this morning. I thought a few times at least one was about to leave, but I guess having your meals delivered is too much of a luxury to want to give up. #bird #birds

Today has been quite busy at the Robin nest! We were watching the chicks being fed when one slipped off the gutter and inadvertently took its first flight. I was a little concerned and stopped taking photos, but it managed to land in a cluster of leaves and branches. #birds

Occasionally I leave my backyard to do a little birding and last year I was able to sit and watch a Canadian Goose and her little Goslings. Never falls to make me smile. #birds
