Part of the awful joke you see play out again and again as you get older, and you watch it play out with the predictability of the sun coming up in the morning.

I never heard it until my 40s and was charmed.

It was a nightmare to be one of the people who didn’t sleep through his administration, a total nightmare.

Listening to my cd copy of Who Reframed the A-Team by Aceyalone and Abstract Rude and thinking about how great and brilliant and rich the musical culture and history we have in Southern California really is.

Been thinking a lot about this recently as a general action of the state, the right, etc. If I was better with words (which I’m not) I’d talk about how I see it as a repeated thing we’re supposed to cheer as an entertainment trope too.

Here is a cartoon drawing I did of a scene from real life about a discussion I was having about the Charlie Kirk shooting and the far-right. Pen and ink on paper.
Here is a cartoon drawing I did of a scene from real life about a discussion I was having about the Charlie Kirk shooting and the far-right. In the drawing I am talking to a friend and saying “the far-right reaction to the Charlie Kirk shooting reminds me a bit of Iraq in that everyone knew Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 but the far-right had a plan and was going to carry it out anyway” and my friend replies “they have always been a death cult”. Pen and ink on paper.

10/7 as Israel’s 9/11 is a perfect metaphor because in both cases the attacks are used as excuse to bomb thousands of people who had nothing to do with the attacks, and the majority of Israelis/Americans have no ability to look honestly at why the attacks might’ve happened.

The war did not begin on October 7. It didn't start with Palestinians invading Israel. And it's not a war against Hamas, it's a war targeting all Palestinians and anyone who supports them.

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

I have a loose ongoing list of questions that are varying degrees of embarrassing that I have nobody I will ever be able to ask about and doubt I ever will, which is a shame because I’d love to know the answers to them all.

HELP FOR PALESTINE
-Hadiya and Ahmad-
Swipe left!

Grey and white cat with green eyes holds up a red green and black watermelon My name is Ahmad Allouh, and I live in Gaza. I never imagined I would have to write something like this—but today, I am doing it to save my family.
I support 14 people, including my wife, children, and relatives, in some of the harshest conditions imaginable. We live near the buffer zone, where daily shelling, drone attacks, and constant fear have become our reality.
My wife is suffering from stomach bleeding, and without proper treatment or access to medical care, her life is in real danger. Medical care is almost impossible to access. Medicine prices have increased over 20 times, and food, clean water, and basic necessities are nearly impossible to find. We haven't received any humanitarian aid in months. The small income I once relied on is gone, and now we are left with nothing.
We are not just trying to survive-we are trying to escape.
We are now urgently seeking help to evacuate from Gaza to anywhere we can find safety, stability, and medical care. The cost of evacuation-permits, travel, housing, and basic resettlement needs—is far beyond anything I can afford on my own.
Your donation can help us:
Buy medicine and food for our children Pay for medical treatment for my wife
Cover the huge costs of evacuation and resettlement
Even the smallest
donation can bring us one step closer to safety. If you cannot donate, please share this campaign or keep us in your prayers.
We are holding on to hope because people like you still care.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

our melody is louder than a shout
An illustration. In the foreground, two figures sit on a downed tree and embrace. There is a gasoline can and two spicy cocktails in the ferns surrounding them. They look down at a valley which has a prison on fire in it. There is a decorative leaf border around the whole illustration. Text at the bottom reads Our Melody is Louder than a Shout and has a circle a.
