In July, Oregon’s seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment declined by 2,700 jobs, following a revised loss of 8,600 jobs in June. Oregon’s unemployment rate was 5.0% in July and 4.9% in June, after rising gradually over the past year. (1/2)

Health care and social assistance is a large and steadily growing sector of Oregon’s economy. Although overall job growth slowed recently in Oregon, gains have accelerated in the health care and social assistance sector.

Hiring demand was concentrated in the private health care and social assistance industry in winter 2025. Health care and social assistance represented nearly a third of all winter vacancies, with 15,500.

Oregon employers added 2,400 jobs in January. Oregon gained 22,000 jobs over the past year; of that 15,100 jobs were added in health care and social assistance, and government (mostly local) added 9,300 jobs. Manufacturing lost 6,900 jobs (-3.7%) over the past year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_oG...

Oregon averaged 29,600 federal government jobs from Jan-Sept 2024. That was 1.5% of all jobs in the state. Federal government jobs tend to be high paying compared with average wages for all sectors, and tend to make up a larger share of jobs in many rural counties. qualityinfo.org/web/guest/-/...

Oregon dropped 3,700 jobs from nonfarm payrolls in December. Growth was slow over the past year; Oregon added 22,000 jobs (1.1%). Job gains were also highly concentrated, with 18,000 jobs added in private health care and social assistance alone. More details at www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7b-...
