I'm pretty friendly but will drop you like a brick if you throw fandom drama at me 💜
Will you lead the Sluagh back into the light? Will you let your hurts destroy the Summerlands completely, who will you spare if you don't succumb to rage? Who is innocent?

All questions that must be answered. And can you, now mostly Sluagh yourself, find a way to reverse the chrysalis?

-End idea-

you had always had their eyes on the throne, and you were just a pawn for them.

And eventually, the once leaderless, wild Sluagh rally behind you, the Malformed, to bring war to the noble families.

You have to make a choice as to what you want to do, how far you are willing to go in revenge.

childhood friend, that he was tricked into the crime he committed, and that, despite everything, the Royal family had no part in your demise. You find out that the Queen herself was the one who found you as a baby, but she could not raise you herself.

Eventually, you'll realise you were intentionally set up, that the family you thought loved you had actually joined forces with other noble families who disliked how popular you were growing amongst the common folk, and the influence you had on the Prince. That this was all a way to weaken your

finding your way out of the Hollow, into the deep underground lairs the Sluagh live in. You will meet old enemies that you personally arrested and locked in the Hollow, but also allies, as you uncover the plot that got you in this mess, and learn of your birth parents and what they were too.

melts down and reforms, your wings lose all colour and become thin and withered. What you picked in the character creator determines what you look like when you are reformed, and you emerge months later, starving but yet... somehow, still with your mind in tact.

The rest of the game is you

the inside of the cavern, and even with you pressing close against it, you can feel the metamorphosis coming. Your skin hardens, (gameplay wise you are slower to move, till eventually you can only move the camera to look around) and you form your chrysalis.

Then there is pure agony, as your body

reform. Deprived of nature's illumination, a faerie can become part of the Sluagh. These malevolent creatures are no longer truly faerie, and hold no court. They are wild, vicious beasts that attack both the Summer and Winter courts, and are feral.

the Seelie need the Sun, the Unseelie need the Moon. It is why there are so many rituals involving full moons, or solstice days. Without the light, all Fae folk begin to form a chrysalis. Like the creatures a fae's wings represent (butterflies and moths) a faerie can, in fact, begin to dissolve and

The sentence? Imprisonment in the Hollow; a great cavern under a mountain. Once locked up, you await your guardians.

And wait. And wait.

But they do not come for you. And being in the Hollow is a death sentence long term. Fae folk need the light of their Court to remain beautiful and healthy,

promise to clear your name, but for now please stay silent so the Prince isn't punished.

You, despite earning honours for your protection of the realm, and the good impression the people have of you, are sentenced harshly, as a commoner trying to take over the throne and manipulate the Prince.

to better the court and protect the Summerlands ( where the Seelie Fae live ).

Life is good.

Then, one day the Prince is caught trying to kill the Queen and take over the court. Instead of taking his punishment, however, he throws you under the bus. Your guardians, members of the Queen's court,

feel it would be chapters and chapters of tension, but maybe a bit more than just WWX calling JYL to help figure things out.
December 15, 2025 at 8:30 AM
no designs on the Tome. And WWX has to wrestle with his feelings and also the knowledge that this is his soulmate served up right in front of him.

I know he'd recognise LWJ had no real choice unless he wanted to be a dog forever, and WWX forgives very easily when his loved ones mess up. So I don't

or mistrustful of each other lol.

But I also think that if I think of the thread fic as the first draft of HLHBSF, the re-write could properly explore the tension and wariness of that week or so where LWJ is newly back to being human and has to try and prove to WWX that he truly loves him and has

for an actual whole human being with autonomy to know. WWX doesn't know LWJ the human, he knows Zhanzhan his dog. I feel I might have rushed past this time where WWX is anxious and wary, just bc I love me some Wangxian and I personally get hives when the main couple of a story spends too long angry
December 15, 2025 at 8:30 AM
I think some of this also comes about bc I'm not sure if I gave WWX enough time after LWJ becomes human again for him to grieve the loss of his companion and progress, as well as struggle to grasp the fact that LWJ knows about the tome and it's one thing for a dog to know about a tome, it's another

until HLHBSF is polished enough to post on AO3. Else I'll never edit it.

So, what are your thoughts?
December 15, 2025 at 4:23 AM
100% on it yet, as part of the reason I was able to write HLHBSF in the first place was because I felt I had to keep writing so I didn't let down the people reading the story. Without that motivation, depression-brain makes me very unmotivated which sucks.

I just don't want to start the next part

the idea of JC turning and seeing all the crows staring at him after WWX ends himself.

Could even be a ghost taking Clopin's part, talking about Yiling's burial mounds and the townspeople, while the archdeacon's lines are maybe JC's conscience or the Burial Mounds themselves.

"You can lie to yourself and your minions
You can claim that you haven't a qualm
But you never can run from
Nor hide what you've done from the eyes
The very eyes of Notre Dame"

being said to him after he helped kill innocent Wens. And the "eyes" would obvs be the Burial Mounds crows. I just love
