We also start w/a CurcuitPlayground Bluefruit which may be the best “first board” in many academic settings. Loaded w/lights, sensors, app control, board-to-board, speaker, cap touch, buttons etc. I start here w/CircuitPython but avoid the cp libraries so we can migrate learning to other boards.

The Arduino UNO Q seems cool, but for an intro academic setting it’s still really tough to find something more flexible at a low cost than the Pico 2W (with add in components, I use leds, a STEMMA-QT/Qwicc connection, microSD. I can do IoT, robotics, so much w/o OS complexities. 1/2

Ok this was a fun fact. The awesome Peacemaker dance number is choreographed by Charissa Barton wife of Resident Alien Alan Tudyk. And you can see him trying out the dance moves in this bit youtu.be/P8jGVUfuR7c?...

This is a fast food place in my wife’s home town and, because I am an incorrigible dork, every time we pass this on the way home, I must sing 🎶 “Pass the Duchess on the left hand side”

The coverage of an “AI actress” has been going on for a couple weeks now and this is the first time I’ve seen someone make this very direct and thoughtful point. It is curious this particular effort is also led by a woman.

I am often asked to say words at family functions. Because I am a cheeky bastard, and like I have done on many an exam, I managed to sneak a Wu-Tang reference into today’s wedding toast. 👐

Back in my hometown in Jersey for a wedding. Someone in the woods behind the church is blasting AC/DC. Seems like nothing has changed since the 80s.

I’m going to my first wedding in years, so I’ve been rewatching the intro to Peacemaker to make sure I’m up on the latest moves.

I think we can sneak David Cross in to impersonate him and try to surreptitiously fix stuff.

I’ve been told our roughly 50/50 mix would tip to about 70/30 in favor of women, should we not try for gender balance. Sad corollary: a student survey found on average that women lost confidence over their four years at university.

I constantly find Open AI & Claude flub basic tasks like adding numbers. It’s usually useful & I pay for both, but really bad enough that there is NO WAY we’re anywhere close to a singularity. For execs to spout this snake oil makes me immediately discount their integrity. apple.news/AUAK2WV6OQN6...

My materials are free online & one can certainly follow the course remotely but the course isn’t offered remotely by the university. I simply give away my material to reach more purple and have a greater impact. Perhaps you can find a local faculty member to allow you to use as an independent study.

Jenny shows what students built with CircuitPython during last nights class. Everyone got a succulent and added it to a 3D printed Groot then used conductive thread and an @adafruit.com CircuitPlayground Bluefruit with external speaker to create Talking Baby Groot. #CSed #STEMed
