YOU GUYS THE GALLEYS ARE HERE!!!!! THIS IS SO REAL!

If you haven't ordered one...but you like knowing things the criminal court system would prefer you didn't know... please consider a pre-order! Link in bio :-)

I'm gonna organize some cool pre-order prizes so save your receipt if you do decide to dive in!

SO if I have ever posted stats about the law, the courts, safety, and public defense that you find useful, they are now all gathered in a book that you can pre-order. If you think this subject is important, pre-orders are a great way of telling the world so ;)

The amount of information and opinions Mike Johnson suddenly doesn't have is quite striking

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

Last night, my team filed a motion to defend voters in California.

DOJ sued 8 states. My firm has filed to protect voters in all 8 states.

We will never back down from the fight to protect free and fair elections.

DOJ has sued 8 states for refusing to turn over their full, unreacted voter files.

My team has now filed motions to defend voters in 7 of those cases in ME, MI, MN, NH, NY, OR and PA.

I suggest that DOJ monitor the docket in the remaining one in CA.

As someone pointed out to me (since my head was fixed on testilying and its lack of consequences) that the actual conduct here is at the very least a felony assault and potentially attempted murder. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Chicago's DA sought an indictment.

Completely correct---my post, I realized, was written thinking about the epidemic of false police reports. But yeah, in this instance, the conduct is violent and vastly more serious. Would be interesting to see what would happen if the Chicago DA filed.

This is a really excellent reminder not just to Chicagoans, but to every proprietor of private property in the US: it's your property, and government agents cannot legally enter your property without a signed judicial warrant.

Take measures.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson:

"Private establishments can partner with us to make it clear that private property is private property and ICE cannot enter establishments without a valid warrant ... If Congress will not check this administration, then Chicago will."

The last time I gave a statement to police, the version they presented back to me did not reflect either what I had said or how I had said it. If asked to acknowledge it in court, I would have refused.

To put it another way, I have represented thousands of people. I cannot think of a single instance in which the initial police report was entirely correct. Not one.

Journalists, please stop copying them down as if they were. Or at least give context re credibility!

Whether you're a casual news reader or a breaking news reporter at the NYTimes, I implore you--please, please, please--do not believe or report DHS/ICE/CBP's side of events uncritically. End the state's monopoly on legitimate storytelling. They are not the objective arbiter of what really happened.

I've been a journalist for over 20 years, investigating cops and courts that entire time.

This, on every level. Cops lie a lot. Cops are frequently incompetent. Never, ever, ever take what they say at face value.

Is no one going to meaningfully check this guy in real time? This is 5150 level delusion

Body-camera video appears to contradict the government’s claim that Marimar Martinez, 30, drove toward officers before one of them opened fire at her late Saturday morning in Brighton Park, her attorney claimed.

This seems bad

CNBC: "Very disappointing. It's a weak number. This is private sector jobs for September. The total comes in -32,000. And that was a surprise because economists were looking for an increase of 51,000. Also, the revision was not good. August now showing -3,000 compared to the initial read of 54,000"
